    Public Works

    Public Works is the department that provides the water you draw from the tap for your morning coffee or shower; the roads you drive; the parks and open spaces you enjoy with your family and friends. The Public Works crew works diligently to keep the community safe and beautiful; providing services that bring our community to life.

    RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE COLLECTION

    Residential Garbage collection happens weekly. Bins must be under 50lbs, and must not have cardboard, or other recyclables included. Garbage is to be placed in a regulation garbage receptacle (3.5 cubic feet with a good fitting, water-tight cover that birds and animals cannot get into). Plastic bags can be placed inside a proper receptacle, but plastic bags are NOT to be used as garbage receptacles for pickup.  Residential garbage does not include yard debris or other types of rubbish not considered household waste.

    Garbage collection continues to happen on Stat holidays, excluding December 25th, if this falls on a Monday or Tuesday, garbage collection will follow December 26.

    Accepted Recycled Items
    The recycling depot is now accepting #1 to 7 plastics, including plastic bags showing the recycling symbol, as well as glass. Please help keep the outside depot clean and rodent free. Rinse your milk jugs, plastics and tins and remove any caps.

    Battery Recycling
    The Depot is now accepting both Alkaline and Rechargeable Batteries for recycling. Rechargeable batteries eligible for collection and recycling are: Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Lithium Ion (Li-ion), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) and Small Sealed Lead (Pb).Small dry cell portable rechargeable batteries are commonly found in cordless power tools, cellular and cordless phones, laptop computers, camcorders, two-way radios and remote control toys.

    Annual Spring Clean-up
    The annual Spring Clean-up usually happens the week after Easter. This is an opportunity to dispose of household appliances, furniture, electronics, and yard debris. One dump truck load per address. Watch for more info annually, including unacceptable materials, and pick-up days for each street.

    Bears & Attractants

    According to WildSafeBC, garbage is the most reported attractant involved in human-bear conflicts. A reminder for residents to keep garbage secure until morning of collection, manage your fruit trees by picking fruit as it ripens or use an electric fence to protect fruit trees, feed pets indoors, and bring bird feeders inside from April to November.
