Village of Port Alice – NOTICE OF ELECTION BY VOTING

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY given to the electors of the Village of Port Alice that an election by voting is necessary to elect a Mayor and four Councilors for a four year term commencing November 9, 2022 , and that the persons nominated as candidates and for whom votes will be received are:

VOTING DATES AND LOCATIONS

GENERAL VOTING will be open to qualified electors on:

Saturday, October 15, 2022 between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm at the following location:

Village of Port Alice Municipal Office 1061 Marine Drive, Port Alice, BC

ADVANCE VOTING will be available to qualified electors as follows

Wednesday, October 5, 2022 between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm at the following location:

ADDITIONAL ADVANCE VOTING will be available to qualified electors as follows

October 11th, 12th, 13th, & 14th, 2022 between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm at the following location:

ELECTOR QUALIFICATION

There is no need to pre-register to vote as the registration of all electors for this election will take place at the time of voting. You will be required to make a declaration that you meet the following requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day
  • Canadian citizen
  • resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately preceding the day of registration
  • resident of OR registered owner of real property in the Village of Port Alice for at least 30 days immediately preceding the day of registration, and
  • not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law.

Resident electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity.

Non-resident property electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and, if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from the majority of the property owners. Consent forms may be obtained from the Chief Election Officer by calling (250) 284-3391 or at the Village of Port Alice, 1061 Marine Drive during office hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays).

REQUESTING A MAIL BALLOT PACKAGE

If you wish to vote by mail, you must submit the following information to the Village of Port Alice office by mail: PO Box 130, Port Alice BC, V0N 2N0,

telephone :(250-250-3391), fax (250-284-3416) or email: ( cao@portalice.ca ) no later than 4:00 pm, September 30, 2022.

  • Full name,
  • Residential address,
  • Address of the property in relation to which you are voting (for non-resident property electors),
  • Method of delivery of your mail ballot package:
  • pick up at office and, if you wish, name of person you authorize to pick up package for you, OR
  • regular letter mail through Canada Post to residential address, OR
  • regular letter mail through Canada Post to an alternate address that you provide when requesting the ballot package

If you request a Mail Ballot Package you must vote using the package.

To be counted, your mail ballot must be received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
