Arena Feasibility Study
In 2018 the Neucel Pulp and Paper Mill in Port Alice permanently closed. The loss of the revenues from the Neucel Mill meant that the Village could no longer afford to operate the Doug Bondue Ice Arena and it was closed in 2019.
The Village of Port Alice is seeking proposals to help us redevelop the Doug Bondue Arena to provide space for new businesses or industries to operate.
Proposals should include an evaluation of the general condition of the building, public consultation, and an exploration of various businesses and industries that could operate in the space including but not limited to agriculture and aquaculture.
The arena consists of the hockey slab, curling rink, change rooms, lobby, concession and curling lounge. The ice plant is still in place, but the ammonia has been removed.

The Village reserves the right to reject any or all submissions. All materials submitted regarding this RFP and deliverables from the successful contractor will become the property of the Village of Port Alice. The Village is not liable for any costs incurred prior to the execution of the contract.
The successful consultant will be required to provide proof of liability insurance in the amount of at least $2,000,000 and will be responsible for their own WorkSafe BC Coverage
